  1. I ride the Hiawatha line every day from downtown to the American Blvd station in 30 minutes and it is the best thing that happened to Minneapolis. It’s always right on time and always full of people, especially on days when the Twins or Vikings are playing. It’s not subject to traffic and doesn’t cost any more than the bus. As a matter of fact, I catch the bus in Forest Lake and take that downtown, then the light rail to Bloomington for $3 each way. Sure can’t drive a car for that. I wish we had a commuter line from Cambridge that stopped in Isanti. Believe me, it would be full of people, just like the Northstar is. I drove the freeway to work for at least 20 years and it was such a test of patience, especially in the winter. I hated it so much. There was always something holding up traffic–weather, road construction or accidents. Always something. Right now the traffic congestion on 35W is horrible. Public transportation is cheaper, less stress and you can pretty much count on getting to work on time every day.
